HANOI, Vietnam — A doctor and state media say a 6-year-old American girl has tested positive for swine flu in Vietnam, bringing the country's total cases to four.
Dr. Phan Van Tu of the Pasteur Institute said Friday the girl and her mother arrived in Ho Chi Minh City several days ago and test results confirmed she was infected with the H1N1 virus.
The Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper says the girl is in hospital in stable condition. The report says authorities also are testing her mother for the illness.
The World Health Organization says 66 countries have reported nearly 20,000 cases of swine flu including 117 deaths.
Tu did not provide further details and it was unclear where the girl and her mother arrived from. – AP
