SINGAPORE: Rehearsals are in full swing as the National Day Parade's slightly more than a month away.

But 60 of the 400 motivators for the show were absent from Saturday’s rehearsal.

One had the H1N1 virus last week and those who had contact with him have been advised to stay away.

Organisers have set up screening stations while those who feel unwell can report to any of the five medical posts located throughout the Floating Platform or F1 pit building.

Participants who have travelled to affected countries or have come in contact with H1N1 cases are advised to refrain from attending the rehearsals.

Those with flu-like symptoms are also advised to stay away.

Additional preventive measures include disinfecting the holding areas, providing hand sanitisers and frequent cleaning of toilets.

Col (Dr) Tan Peng Hui, chairman, Medical Committee, National Day Parade 2009, said: "We have started all these measures when NDP rehearsals started last week and we will continue to implement these measures and review them and enhance them along the way.”

Meanwhile over at Maju Camp, the Singapore Armed Forces have put in additional precautionary measures against the virus after a total of 19 reported cases.

NSmen turn up at Maju camp for the Individual Physical Proficiency Test and remedial training.

All NSmen will have their temperature screened before they are allowed into the camp.

Those who feel unwell will have to sign self-declaration forms. - CNA/vm
