Health screening officers monitor passengers through a thermal scanner at the Changi International Airport
SINGAPORE: Two more holiday chalets have been designated as H1N1 quarantine centres to deal with the rising number of cases.
They are the People's Association holiday chalet and the Home-TeamNS chalet, both in Pasir Ris.
The additions increase the number of isolation rooms available from 130 to over 200.
Meanwhile, a father-and-son pair under quarantine tried to leave the People's Association quarantine centre on Tuesday.
Reporters tried to talk to them but were stopped by the security guards. It is believed that the duo were unhappy that they were quarantined.
As the gate was locked, they decided to sit out at the centre with their luggage. The police were called in and they took about 10 minutes to persuade the pair to return to their isolation rooms.
Under the law, anyone who flouts the Home Quarantine Order can be fined $10,000 or jailed for up to six months or both.
