YELLOW Inefficient human-to-human transmissions of flu caused by a novel virus, with spread prevented via isolation/quarantine; elevated risk of import to Singapore. • Temperature screenings, curbs on hospital and clinic visitors; inter-hospital movement restricted; temperature screening at border checkpoints for passengers arriving from affected countries. |
ORANGE Large clusters of cases appearing in one or two places outside Singapore, but pandemic not yet declared; possible cluster here, but human-to-human spread localised. • ‘No visitors’ rule at all hospitals; flu clinics set up at 18 polyclinics; temperature-taking at schools, workplaces, checkpoints (both for inbound and outbound travellers). |
RED Flu pandemic declared by WHO. • Alert Orange measures continue; schools closed, events with large groups of people suspended. |
BLACK High rates of severe disease and deaths. • Economic activities disrupted, healthcare system overwhelmed; schools and universities closed, public gatherings suspended; curfew considered, public advised to stay home. |
