More than 12,000 infections of H1N1 flu have been confirmed across 43 countries since the virus emerged in the Americas a month ago, according to World Health Organization statistics.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has yet to declare a full pandemic of the virus which claimed 86 victims globally and has made its mark with new cases in Asian countries such as Thailand, China, the Philippines and Japan.
Experts however say there is no suggestion yet that the flu outbreak has taken a life of its own, while pharmaceutical firms race to find a vaccine and the WHO warns the world to be ready for the H1N1 flu to become more severe.
