MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino-Japanese boy was reportedly tested positive for A(H1N1) infection in Japan after traveling from the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday.

Health Undersecretary Mario Villaverde said no other details were available regarding the boy, including his address in the Philippines.

“We don't know if he resides here. They said the boy is positive [for A(H1N1)]. That's the one we are verifying," Villaverde said in a press briefing.

The boy left the Philippines last May 22, according to reports reaching the DOH. The report had no information on when the boy arrived in the country.

Villaverde said they received the information while they were having a meeting Wednesday morning. He said they are just waiting word from their counterpart in Japan.

“There was news we have received while we're having our task force meeting this morning. We are verifying the information. There's no official communication but we have heard the news," he said. - GMANews.TV
