2019-nCoV Status: Still Spreading - Fast

2020-Feb-04. The 2019-nCoV Is Still Spreading - Fast. And this is about 5 weeks since it was first known to the world last 31-Dec-2019.

Disinfectants have run out from the stores. Masks are out of stock, and manufacturers are on the double to produce more. Bottled alcohols are running out, be it 40% or 70%.

WHO and CDC are working round the clock, as all the local health workers in each country where there are cases of the 2019-nCoV.

Flights are cancelled, trips are banned, and there is practically no entry or even transit for travelers who have been to China.

Groceries are running our of stocks in some places where there is scare and panic.

Stock markets are on a standstill, if not going up and down slowly, all in anticipation of what is going to happen next.

As of today, I read in WHO website that the virus is already isolated, and is already made available to test centers around the world, especially for those who are after vaccine manufacture.

I hope that this 2019-nCoV global incident does not turn into a pandemic, and that it gets contained as soon as possible. Governments around the world have implemented extreme measures - all because this novel coronavirus is new, unknown, no medicine, no vaccine, and its transmission and behavior still not known at this time.

China is suffering the bulk of the burden, in both cases of infections and deaths. Hopefully the health workers get proper protection themselves. And that WHO and CDC experts are allowed to go to China to help in anything and everything that they can to alleviate the situation.

For common folks, like you and me, proper hygiene is our best protection against contracting the virus, not masks or disinfectants, but our internal sense of hygiene and the practice of it will be the major factor to keep us from getting the disease.

May we all be well and protected from the 2019-nCoV.
